iTunes U is a free, hosted service for higher education from Apple that provides a means for managing, delivering, and accessing university-related podcasts, audio, and video files. First-time iTunes users, or those who need to update their iTunes software, can download the iTunes application at www.itunes.com.
New England Conservatory is excited to launch our new iTunes U channel with our first six collections, featuring:
- Score Study, featuring performers and scholars drawing insights from the composer's page, kicked off by a set of videos from Nicholas Kitchen, first violinist of the Borromeo String Quartet, NEC's Quartet-in-Residence, examining Felix Mendelssohn's 1825 Ottetto
- From the President, featuring lectures and speeches by NEC President Tony Woodcock
- Ives/Bartok, featuring lifelong engagement with 20th-century composers by John Heiss and his colleagues
- Curriculum Design/Pedagogy, featuring content exploring how to create a course of musical studies, and how to teach music
- Entrepreneurial Musicianship, featuring content for musicians who seek a hands-on advantage in developing the career they want
- Jazz Performance, featuring content highlighting NEC as the first major American classical conservatory to establish a fully accredited Jazz Studies
