Lone Star Emmy for Montgomery

NEC-trained composer shares award with creative team of Texas historical documentary

New England Conservatory congratulates Jordan Montgomery ’08, on sharing a Lone Star Emmy Award, presented November 9 by the Lone Star (Texas) regional division of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Jordan, who studied composition at NEC with Michael Gandolfi and John Mallia, was honored as part of the core creative team that produced Sam Houston: American Statesman, Soldier and Pioneer, a three-part documentary that aired on PBS in July. A Texas native now living in Jamaica Plain, Jordan composed and arranged the original score.

Formed in 2002, NATAS’ Lone Star Chapter in Texas has grown to become one of the largest in the country. The statewide Chapter serves all 19 television markets in Texas, and includes members from TV-related fields including: news and non-news broadcasting; production; post production; education; advertising; and public relations.

In sharing the news about her award, Jordan wrote: “I will be in Texas until the day after Thanksgiving, but I plan on bringing my Emmy to NEC when I return! Thanks again for a wonderful education! I couldn't be happier!
