The hands of NEC Distinguished Artist-in-Residence Russell Sherman will be the first to touch Jordan Hall's new Steinway piano as it makes its public debut.
As prelude to what will no doubt be many great piano performances to come on this instrument, Sherman offers two books of preludes that are at the heart of the piano repertoire: Chopin's complete Preludes and Debussy's complete Preludes, Book II.
This instrument was purchased with funds raised in conjunction with NEC's 2009 Feast of Music gala, and was selected at the New York Steinway factory in May by a delegation of NEC piano faculty. Read more.
