THREE SETS: 7 PM, 8 PM, & 9 PM

7:00pm- Leake Ensemble

This ensemble will develop a student’s own inner sense of rhythm and give them a chance to learn the elegant art of frame drumming. The ensemble materials are derived from a variety of world music, North African, Middle Eastern, South Indian and Brazilian. The students will learn many forms of rhythmic puzzles and grooves that will be sung in time and performed on the drum. The drums will be provided in the classroom but students will be urged to get their own.

8:00pm- Seager Ensemble

This ensemble focuses on building cohesive group playing using both jazz standards and free improvisations.  We focus on specific aspects of music such as rhythm, motive, space and form.  In practicing and applying each of these elements — separately and together — we experience how they work to help us build trust in our abilities, and confidence in our own personal ways of expressing ourselves.
