Merz Trio Wins 2021 Naumburg Competition

The trio—comprised of violinist Brigid Coleridge '20 GD, cellist Julia Yang '14 MM, '20 GD, and pianist Lee Dionne '20 GD—will receive $15,000 and a fully subsidized recital in New York City, including the world premiere of a newly-commissioned work.

The Merz Trio has won first place in the Naumburg Chamber Music Competition, held on Sunday, September 19 in the Gilda Lehman Hall at the Morgan Library in New York.

Formerly the Ensemble-in-Residence in NEC's Professional Piano Trio Program, the trio—comprised of violinist Brigid Coleridge '20 GD, cellist Julia Yang '14 MM, '20 GD, and pianist Lee Dionne '20 GD—will receive $15,000 and a fully subsidized recital in New York City, including the world premiere of a newly-commissioned work.

The trio have previously also won the 2019 Concert Artists Guild Competition, the 2019 Fischoff Competition, and First Prize as well as audience prize at the 2018 Chesapeake Competition.
