NEC's 156th academic year began last Tuesday with a lively Convocation ceremony featuring performances, an alumni panel, and words of encouragement and inspiration from student speaker Yoona Kim ’23 MM, Provost and Dean Benjamin Sosland, and NEC President Andrea Kalyn.

NEC faculty member Andrew Schartmann’s book “Koji Kondo’s Super Mario Bros. Soundtrack” was just released in Japanese. In honor of the release of the Japanese translation, Andrew shared ten facts about video games and video game music.

The 16-year-old, who studies with NEC Prep faculty member and Piano Department Co-Chair HaeSun Paik, also took the Audience Prize and Junior Jury Prize at the competition.
