Prep Progress Reports & Evaluations

All students enrolled at NEC Prep receive written evaluations. These include a progress report in mid-January and a final evaluation at the end of the year.

Progress Reports

Progress reports are sent out each December/January to give families an update on how the student is progressing in their private lessons. Students also use the information to check their certificate status and evaluation level.

Evaluations

Spring 2021 Evaluation Form

Evaluations take the place of the penultimate lesson of the Spring semester. There are two different types of evaluations, and students may take either at the recommendation of their teacher.

  • General Evaluations (GE) provide an assessment of progress and achievement by a panel of at least two faculty members other than the student’s own teacher.
  • Performance Level Evaluations (PLE) are rigorous achievement levels required for the certificate program.

Students should consult their studio teacher for appropriate technique and repertoire requirements. Students not in the certificate program are welcome to take either a PLE or a GE depending on teacher recommendation. This evaluation is a valuable tool in preparing students for future auditions and is a required part of our private instruction program.

New for the 2020-2021 year, an evaluation fee of $30 will be charged for all private lesson registrations. Formerly, one private lesson was allocated towards the evaluation. This fee will replace the former process. i.e. Students registering for 30 lessons will receive 30 lessons + 1 evaluation, rather than 29 lessons + 1 evaluation.
