NEC Prep uses an ID card called the Penguin Pass. All faculty, staff, and students will receive a card, as this ID is also a smart card that will allow access to our buildings and certain areas within them.
All NEC Prep students are required to show their NEC ID when entering NEC buildings. ID cards must be tapped against the sensors at the security desks. Students without NEC ID cards will be sent to the Prep Office for verification.
New NEC Prep Students
At the start of each academic year, registered students who are new to NEC Prep will be issued their Student ID. They will use this for the duration of their years at NEC Prep.
Returning NEC Prep Students
Returning students should keep their ID and continue to use it each year they are registered at NEC Prep.
What to do if you lose your Student ID:
There is a $10 replacement fee for lost student ID cards. Replacement fees must be paid using the Transact App. Cash and in-person payments will not be accepted. Please open the User Guide below to learn more about and download the Transact App.
Prep IDs on Transact as "NEC Prep ID Replacement" and are $10.
Please allow 7-10 business days for your new ID to be processed. You will be notified by the office when your ID has been printed and is ready for pickup.
New IDs can be picked up at the Welcome Center (33 Gainsborough Street, Boston, MA 02115) on Prep Saturdays between 8am-4pm.
