Financial Aid & Scholarship

NEC Prep Scholarship Program Overview

At NEC Prep, we believe in providing opportunities for every student and strive to create a nurturing home for all young musicians. We understand that financial considerations should not be a barrier to pursuing a musical education, which is why we offer a comprehensive financial aid process to support our students.

The early decision deadline for scholarship applications for the 2024-2025 Prep academic year is May 15, 2024. We strongly encourage all students to submit their applications by this date to ensure timely review. However, we understand that circumstances may vary, and applications submitted after the early decision deadline will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, allowing us to consider each student's unique situation.

Tuition assistance amounts are awarded based on demonstrated financial need, as reported in the application, as well as the program the student intends to pursue and other relevant considerations. We want to emphasize that the financial aid award is contingent upon the student's commitment to the program. It is important to note that if a student registers for fewer courses or lessons than initially indicated in their application, the financial aid award may be adjusted accordingly.

Students who receive tuition assistance are expected to maintain a high level of student standing and attendance. We value the dedication and commitment of our students and encourage them to actively participate in their musical education. Failure to meet these expectations may result in the loss of tuition assistance.

The tuition assistance decisions are made after the student has completed the placement/audition process and will be made publicly available via your slate application on June 15, 2023. If you are applying for tuition assistance specifically for large ensembles and have already completed the placement process through the May auditions, we can promptly review and process your application. However, if you are awaiting teacher placement or other fall placements, such as chamber music or music theory, we will evaluate your application once those placements have been finalized. As our tuition assistance funds are limited, we kindly request that you complete your registration as soon as possible and before September.

We understand that circumstances may change, and if you find that you are unable to attend NEC Prep in September, we kindly request that you inform us as soon as possible. By notifying us of your change in plans before October 1, 2023, we can effectively allocate the financial aid to another deserving student.

At NEC Prep, we are dedicated to fostering a supportive environment where every young musician can thrive. Our financial aid process is designed to ensure that students with demonstrated financial need have access to the transformative power of music education. We encourage all eligible students to apply for tuition assistance and embark on their musical journey with us.
