Boston Chamber Music Society Presents: Faure, Tsontakis, Bacewicz, Bridge

NEC: Jordan Hall | Directions

290 Huntington Ave.
Boston, MA
United States

The Piano Trio from Fauré's last years and the passionate Piano Quintet by Bridge frame the whole program with French sensibility. The Oboe Sonata (1937) by Bacewicz is active and light throughout. Commissioned in 2014 by BCMS, Tsontakis’s Portraits by El Greco (Book 1) commemorates the 400th anniversary of the eponymous Greek painter’s death. Five of the work’s six movements correspond to paintings that depict episodes in the life of Christ, while the first movement, “Toledo,” hauntingly depicts the landscape of El Greco’s adopted Spanish city.
