Javier Caballero is a Boston-based cellist, educator, and arts leader. Performances have taken Mr. Caballero from Boston's Museum of Fine Arts and Jordan Hall, to clubs such as Ryles Jazz Club and Makor (NYC), as well as performance tours throughout China, Europe, and the Middle East. Equally at home performing chamber music with Shelter Music Boston, contemporary works with Castle of Our Skins, musicals at SpeakEasy Stage Company, and string quartets on white water rafting tours with Dvorak Expeditions, Mr. Caballero has also recorded several albums with Middle Eastern, New Age, Balkan and Indie Rock groups and has been featured on PBS and QVC. He has also performed with Diana Ross and the Supremes, Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brightman, Mannheim Steamroller, and the Irish Tenors. In addition to teaching privately at his home studio, he serves on the faculty of the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music, Point Counterpoint, and Boston University Tanglewood Institute’s Junior Strings Intensive summer festivals. He also taught for several years in the Brookline and Watertown public schools. Mr. Caballero completed his Master of Music degree at Boston Conservatory with Rhonda Rider and his Bachelor of Music degree at the University of South Florida with Scott Kluksdahl. He’s currently the Artistic Director of Project STEP and started directing New England Conservatory Prep’s Cello Choir in 2019.
