Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) Reporting

On April 16th, 2020, New England Conservatory (“NEC”) signed and returned to the U.S. Department of Education (“DOE”) a Funding Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (“CARES”) Act. NEC intends to use no less than 50 percent of the total funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus.
As of the date of this report, NEC has distributed approximately$183,659 to 137 eligible students. Please refer to the May 21, 2020 report (shown below) for further details regarding the funding distribution process.

On April 16th, 2020, New England Conservatory (“NEC”) signed and returned to the U.S. Department of Education (“DOE”) a Funding Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (“CARES”) Act. NEC intends to use no less than 50 percent of the total funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus.
On April 30th, 2020, NEC received $183,659.00 from the DOE to be used to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
In compliance with the DOE’s suggested funding distribution methods, NEC determined which students received emergency grants via an application process. Students were informed of the student emergency funding application process via email, and the information was also posted on the NEC Resource Center web page. NEC’s 2019-2020 student body includes approximately 447 students who are eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants under the CARES Act.
NEC prioritized awarding of emergency funds to students with the greatest need, as determined via review of individual applications. Funds were awarded to eligible students primarily for food and housing expenses related to the disruption of campus operations. As of the date of this report, NEC has distributed approximately $153,000 to 124 eligible students.
